World Lit Intro

          Introducing Me…..

I woke up in Manitowoc one day.  I never imagined my life leading me here.  Just six months prior I had had a career; a job that paid well and I performed well.  Unfortunately, people started running out of money and no one needed me to do my job anymore so I was “laid-off indefinitely”.

I woke up in Manitowoc when I decided to pursue higher education.  When I was spending hours in front of the television, directionless and heartbroken, I felt like the University of Phoenix commercials were mocking me for never finishing my degree.  I applied to Silver Lake after an intensive Google search and was accepted.

I woke up in Manitowoc without knowing a soul, not having a job, and being on the edge of forty years old.

I wake up in Manitowoc, two and a half years after the first time, with cherished friends, an entertaining job that pays the bills and the end to my pursuit in sight.

My Purpose….

My mother taught me how to get lost in a book.  Books are always a lot better than real life.  Well, not always, but a lot of the time.  I’ve heard rumors that some authors may use symbolism and other methods in their storytelling that gives more meaning to the tale.  I hope that in this class I am able to develop tools for myself to help me further comprehend an author’s meaning.  (If there is one.)
